Longgang "Town of Dragon Dance" Art Festival

Longgang in Shenzhen is famous for dragons and is known as Dragon Town at home and abroad. The Hakkas take a dragon as a mascot and form a tradition to perform a dragon dance, lion dance and Qilin dance on holidays and festivals. With a 300-year history and strong local traditions, the dragon dance is one of the main folk customs, thus, the Dragon Culture came into being. There are many gardens, squares, and sculptures with the theme of a dragon. With a total investment ofRMB 100 million, a dragon theme park was built in Longgang. It is the only one of its kind in China. Dragon dance troupes often play in foreign countries and regions, such as the United States, Canada, and so on. There are 55troupes of dragon, lion, and Qilin dancers. Nearly 1, 000 people often take part in the dances over 130 days in a year. There are about 100 dragon dance shows each year.
